Essential Information for New Zealanders Travelling Overseas

Tens of thousands of New Zealanders travel overseas every year. It’s a diverse and exciting world out there. But it’s not always sun, fun and photos while you’re travelling. Sometimes things can go wrong.
Your best-laid plans can be upset by any number of problems. Theft, accident or illness can affect you or those with you. Even losing or damaging your passport can spoil your trip. You might also get caught up in civil unrest, natural disasters or even acts of terrorism.
Some problems are impossible to foresee or avoid. But many problems can be avoided by planning ahead and arming yourself with the right information.

New travel Rules FOR NEW ZEALAND

The New Zealand Government has introduced a new travel requirement for some visitors and transit passengers. The New Zealand Electronic Travel Authority (NZeTA) is effective for travel from 01 October 2019.

  • Please note travellers who have a New Zealand or Australian passport, or hold a valid visa to enter New Zealand will not require an NZeTA
  • Visitors will need to obtain an NZeTA prior to their trip to New Zealand. Approval can take up to 72 hours so we recommend customers apply well in advance of their departure date.
  • An NZeTA will be required even if the passenger is connecting through New Zealand to another country.
  • Visitors may also be required to pay an International Visitor Conservation and Tourism Levy (IVL).

South Africa Visa Changes for Kiwis

From 15 August 2019, ordinary passport holders of New Zealand will not need visas to enter South Africa for holiday purposes and business visits for a period up to 90 days.
